Temple of Man Celebrates 50 Years

On October 31, 2010, members of the Temple of Man gathered in front 1439 Cabrillo Ave. to celebrate its 50th anniversary. As part of the commemoration, Beyond Baroque is featuring a Temple of Man program of poetry, music, video, drama, film and a sampling of their art collection through November 30, 2010. In 2005, participants of the Venice "Vintage" Architectural Tour had an opportunity to not only view this wonderful 1910 Craftsman, but were graced by the special appearance of original Venice Beats poet Frank Rios and Philomene Long.

Ten and a Half... by Paul Tanck

It's basically an excuse to have a drink. The reasoning being that it is - arbitrarily - considered okay by some to only drink alcohol after 5pm - but not before. So anyone wanting an alcoholic drink before 5 would then claim that "it´s 5 o'clock somewhere" in the world, and it´s therefore okay to have a drink anytime.
Sounds good to me. It´s always great on cruising vacations, like Marcia and I have experienced in the glorious past, but especially so in our own, unique, Blue World Lounge. I know I´ve alluded to it in previous columns, a great nightly spot to let your worries go, have a couple Martini´s - the house specialty - and just casually discuss the day´s events. Maybe have some hors´ de oeuvres. "Cheese, anyone?" Who knows?
Our "adult time" as we called it when our son Zack was growing up and we, too, needed our space, is now usually starting around 6:15, if you can believe that? Damn professional life, delaying our cocktail time! [On Fridays we get to commence at 5:15, a true proper way to on-send the weekend! What ho!]
