Esquire Jauchem - Venice´s Modern Day Town Decorator

There hasn´t been an official "town decorator" since Arthur Reese in the early days of Venice. Esquire Jauchem, known to residents and party goers as the producer of Carnevale! Venice Beach, is putting on a new community hat.
You may have noticed that there was no Carnevale in the streets this year. However, there was a Carnevale Masquerade Party to keep the tradition alive. "We don´t want it to die," Esquire says. The economic downturn coupled with not enough space for the vendors last year caused a lack of funds to produce a full blown event for 2010. It has been a labor of love fraught with logistical problems since starting in 2002. Esquire is determined to have the festivities on the beach like carnivals at other beach cities such as Rio de Janeiro and Kuta Karnival in Bali. He envisions community-wide participation so everyone can benefit and have fun.
Now, Esquire is calling on a talent previously featured in lighting effects for "Phantom of the Opera", the first version of "The Glory of Easter" at the Crystal Cathedral and the Dalai Lama on the night he won the Nobel Peace Prize.

The Most Sacred Spot in Venice? I Think So... by Paul Tanck

Because, now is the time of the attack of the incessant skateboarders. Constantly they pass my house, in packs, in hoardes, young kids alone, long cool girls gliding by, crowds of youngsters, lone boarders, sometimes even with their Dads. All headed west, on the conduit to the skatepark, to their new place of nirvana, to where they can roll.
I can´t think of a better monument to the Venice of today, 2010, than the recent Dennis "Polar Bear" Agnew 16,000 square foot skatepark, which opened last year and has become an icon for today´s Venice, among the young and hip. Brought about over a decade of dedication by local skaters Ger-I Lewis and Jesse Martinez, this new pleasure-drome is the ultimate draw for new Venice cool. Whether you´re ripping, curbing, slamming or just viewing, this new beach feature has once again placed this sacred spot of Venice Beach into the local happening atmosphere. Why, on Yo! Venice, the rad local website, they even feature a skateboard park picture of the week. And that´s pretty damn cool!
This skatepark was initially enabled because of the Danson oil well saga from the 70s , which previously inhabited that very site. From the stench of their wells came a public outcry, that finally forced them to shut down, and ultimately avail that hallowed, sacred ground for another great Venice reuse.
