Diversity in Venice by Brandon Maggart

Venice Beach, California, carnivale by the sea
Venice Beach, California, where the freaks are you and me
Venice Beach, California, for some good ol' weird ass fun
Come to Venice California 90291

Venice Beach, California, see the never ending flow
We're tall and short and thin and fat in the boardwalk people show
It's up and down the boardwalk until the sun goes down
We're people watchin' people watchin' people walk aroun'

Lookit'em stroll on down the boardwalk. Lookit'em look. What do they see?
Lookit'em stroll back up the boardwalk. Lookit'em look at you and me
Venice Beach, California, it's a circus every day
Venice Beach, on the boadwalk, California, USA

Venice Beach, California, it's a boardwalk people show
There's preachers, sinners, losers, winners, lookie-loos on the slow
Strollin' up and down the boardwalk, some are pink and some quite brown
Yes, we're people watchin' people watchin' people walk aroun'

Look at that shimmy-shake down the boardwalk, look at that shimmy, look at that shake
Some just shimmy-shake down the boardwalk, some will swim, then shake-and bake
Come on out to California, have a mudslide, have a quake
Have a grand time on our boardwalk and watch our shimmy shake

We love freedon here in Venice, we're diverse in what we do
We know our flag of red and white goes with our state of blue
Our vegans here in Venice, sit with carnivores - no joke
Serving leafy plants in Venice, some they eat and some they smoke

It's my home in California, sure, it's a circus every day
But there's paradise in Venice, when the crowds all go away
And I hear the waves go crashing in the stillness of the night
I have family, I have Venice, I have something, I'm alright

Venice! O Venice - music and lyrics by Brad Kay

By the blue Pacific waters
At the edge of the Golden West
Come our nation's sons and daughters
To the place they love the best

No, it's not Topeka, Kansas
Heidelberg or Rome
It's Venice of America
The place we call our home

Venice! O Venice!
O hear our voices ring
Where music reigns triumphant
And art is king

Venice! O Venice!
Where we work and live and play
We hail to thee, O Venice!
The pearl of the USA

Recitation a la Franklin Roosevelt by Brad:

Venice of America - a peaceful home to every race, creed and color under the sun. Venice - where art and commerce mingle freely, as nowhere else. Many a city was founded because it was where two rivers crossed, where a battle was fought, where business was good. But only Venice of America exists because one man, Abbot Kinney, dreamed of a place where the highest artistic and intellectual aspirations of
humanity could not only be imagined, but realized.

There was nothing here but swampland
When with brick and steel and steam
Came a man named Abbot Kinney
To construct his golden dream

Toiling on thru sleepless weekends
Here he built thru sweat and tears
A home for art and poetry
Canals and gondoliers

Venice! O Venice!
We lift our voices to thee
Where rents are somewhat pricey
But the air is free

Venice! O Venice!
Though it's now part of LA
We hail to thee, O Venice!
And to hell with Marina Del Rey!
